Description

Wolverhampton born right back Dicky Baugh began his football career with Stafford Road Railway Works in Wolverhampton in 1914 before joining Second Division Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 1918, making his Football League debut against Bury in October 1919, making 29 appearances in his debut season. Baugh then played every round of the club’s route to the 1921 FA Cup Final. However Baugh was injured in the weeks leading up to the game and missed their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge. The following season he was a near ever present for Wolves, missing just two games. However after Wolves’ relegation in 1923 he made just one further appearance, and after 4 goals in 120 appearances for his hometown club Baugh moved to Black County rivals West Bromwich Albion for ÂŁ500 in June 1924.

Baugh made his Albion debut in February 1925 in a First Division match against Preston North End. He had five seasons at The Hawthorns but having lost his place in November 1926 he was increasingly a fringe player, in total making 65 appearances for The Baggies. In May 1929 he joined Exeter City for £137, where in three seasons he scored 5 goals, all penalties, in 62 appearances before a transfer to non league Kidderminster Harriers in January 1932. He remained with Kidderminster until his retirement from football in April 1936.

He was the son of England international Dick Baugh, who won the FA Cup with Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1893 and played for Wolves for 10 years, briefly playing for Walsall before his retirement.
