Holborn, London born inside right William Barr played for amateur Isthmian League club London Caledonians throughout much of the 1920’s and helped them win the FA Amateur Cup in 1923, in which they defeated Evesham Town 2-1 after extra time at The Crystal Palace, as well as the Isthmian League Championship in 1924-25. He joined Third Division (South) club Queen’s Park Rangers in the summer of 1925 and made his Football League debut against Merthyr Town that September, playing in a match at Reading four days later. However these were his only appearances for Rangers and by November he had already returned to London Caledonians, appearing in an FA Cup First Round proper defeat to Ilford that month.
