Description

Kilnhurst, Yorkshire born right half Charles Arthurs began his football career with Midland League club Rotherham County in 1906 and joined Second Division Gainsborough Trinity in the 1907 close season, making his Football League debut at Grimsby Town that September, scoring once in 31 appearances for Trinity before joining Southern League club New Brompton (now Gillingham) in the summer of 1908. He returned to Football League action when he was signed by First Division Preston North End a year later, but he found opportunities at Deepdale limited, scoring once, in a 3-1 defeat at Bolton Wanderers in December 1909, in 8 appearances before returning to New Brompton in 1910.

A return to Rotherham County in 1911 was followed by a spell with Midland League club Worksop Town in 1912 but he returned to The Southern League first with Merthyr Town in 1913 and then with Mardy in 1914. His career was then interrupted by the onset of the First World War forcing the abandonment of peacetime football but after the War he played for Pontypridd in 1919 and Ebbw Vale in 1920 before his eventual retirement.
