Blackpool born winger William Anderson joined his hometown professional club, then in the Second Division, in 1901, making his Blackpool debut that December against Gainsborough Trinity. He soon established a regular berth in the starting eleven, but lost his place (to injury?) in 1904, only playing another 21 games through to 1907. In total he scored 12 goals in 108 appearances, before joining non league Rossendale United in 1907, moving to Blackpool Athletic in 1908.
