Chelsea born centre forward Jack Acquroff joined Tottenham Hotspur from local football in August 1931 but didn’t make their first team, playing for Northfleet and Folkestone before joining Second Division Hull City in November 1934, for whom he made his Football League debut against Barnsley that December. A regular goalscorer for Hull, he was transferred to Bury in October 1936 after 25 goals in 72 appearances, scoring the winner on his debut at Bradford City. In February 1939 he was transferred to Norwich City after 16 goals in 58 games, and his career at Norwich was cut short by the advent of the Second World War after 7 goals in 20 appearances.
