Description
Glenbuck, Ayrshire born right winger Jimmy Nisbet played junior football for Glenbuck Athletic with Bob and Bill Shankly (among others) as well as for Cumnock Juniors before joining Ayr United in 1926. He had five seasons at Ayr United scoring 29 goals in 129 matches for The Honest Men, and was clearly very much their star player for a period, helping them to win the Ayrshire Cup and Ayrshire Charity Cup. He won three caps for Scotland in their summer tour of 1929, making his debut and scoring twice in a 7-3 victory over Norway in Brann on 26th May 1929 and playing in a 1-1 draw with Germany and a 2-0 win over The Netherlands. He moved to Dalbeattie Star in 1931, his last recorded club before his eventual retirement.
During the Second World War he served with The Royal Signals Corp.
