Wallasey, Cheshire born right back Harry Fare played for junior club Harrowby in 1919 before joining Everton in September 1920, spending 1920-21 at Goodison Park without making a first team appearance. In May 1922 he joined Wigan Borough, making his Football League debut against Ashington that August, quickly establishing himself as their first choice right back over the next three seasons. During that period he was also a reliable penalty taker, scoring 9 spot kicks among his 13 goals in 121 appearances.
In May 1925 he joined First Division Bury but was mainly a reserve in his two seasons at Gigg Lane, playing twice for the first eleven in September 1926 before joining non league Flint Town later the same year. In 1927 he joined Stalybridge Celtic and subsequently played for The Liverpool Warehousing Company and Congleton Town.
