Somercotes, Derbyshire born winger Harry Daykin played football for Alfreton Town in 1926 from where he joined Third Division (South) Southend United in May 1927. His only Football League appearance came in March 1928 when he played for The Shrimpers at Gillingham in a game they lost 1-0, and later in August 1928 Daykin joined Fulham where he spent 1928-29 without making a first team appearance. He joined Midland League Champions Mansfield Town in 1929, where he scored once in 12 appearances during 1929-30. He joined Ilkeston Town in the close season of 1931, and ended his career at Sutton Town, whom he joined in 1934.
