Description

Bradford born inside forward George Waite served with The Royal Artillery during the First World War and from Army football joined First Division Bradford Park Avenue in August 1915, making his Football League debut at Bolton Wanderers after the War had ended in August 1919, making 6 appearances for Avenue that season before heading north of the border, initially on loan to Heart of Midlothian in 1920. He played for Raith Rovers and Clydebank in 1920, before moving to Welsh League Pontypridd in 1921, from where he joined Leicester City in May 1922. He spent just under 2 years at Filbert Street scoring 14 goals in  33 appearances, before joining Clapton Orient in March 1923. At Orient he scored 9 times in 65 appearances, joining Hartlepools United in July 1926. He stayed just one season with ‘Pools, scoring 7 times in 26 appearances before moving to York City in 1927.
