Description

Shrewsbury born winger Tancy Lea had played for Whitchurch, Chester and Oswestry Town before joining Second Division Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1913, making his debut at Hull City that December. He made only 5 appearances prior to the suspension of peacetime football due to World War One, but resumed with Wolves in 1919, scoring his first goal in a 1-0 FA Cup win over Blackburn Rovers in January 1920. A year later, he would play 8 FA Cup ties as Wolves went all the way to the FA Cup Final, losing 1-0 in the Final to Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge in front of nearly 73,000. In 1922 he moved to Bristol Rovers after 3 goals in 58 appearances for The Wolves, playing 2 seasons at Eastville, scoring twice in 52 appearances, before joining hometown club Shrewsbury Town, then in the Birmingham League, in 1924.
