Description

Crewe, Cheshire born right half Arthur Moss joined Crewe Central in 1904 and Willaston White Star in 1905 before joining hometown professional club Crewe Alexandra, then playing in the Birmingham & District League in 1906 for a single season. He joined Whitchurch in 1907 and from there was signed by First Division Aston Villa, making his debut against Blackburn Rovers in January 1910. His opportunities at Villa Park were limited to a single appearance in January 1911 and 3 more appearances in 1912 before a move to Bristol City the same year.

In three seasons at Ashton Gate he made 90 appearances, but the First World War, during which he served in the Armed Forces, interrupted his career and after the War he joined non league Runcorn in 1919. He returned to hometown Central League club Crewe Alexandra and when they joined the Football League in 1921 he played 41 matches in their inaugural Football League campaign, being a member of their team in their first ever League fixture at Tranmere Rovers in August 1921. His only career goal came for Crewe in a 7-3 win over Darlington in April 1922, and he made 142 appearances over four seasons before retiring in 1925 already aged 38.
