Description

Codnor, Derbyshire born outside left Bill Hand joined Third Division (South) club Crystal Palace from Midland League club Sutton Town in October 1920, making his Football League debut at Grimsby Town in February 1921. During the rest of the season he made 8 further appearances as Crystal Palace won the inaugural Third Division Championship and promotion to the Second Division.

He could play anywhere across the forward line (except at centre forward) and was chosen at all positions, with outside let being his most frequent. In six seasons at Crystal Palace he scored 15 times in 109 appearances, exactly 100 of which were in the League, however after 8 games of the 1925-26 season he left the club in October 1925, his contract being cancelled along with that of Dick Strang when the two players were sacked due to breach of contract, so ending his career as a professional footballer.
