Description

Coylton, Ayrshire born centre half David Affleck began his football career with Crosshouse Castle Rovers before joining Second Division Notts County in July 1932 but he failed to make their first team before moving to Bristol City in May 1934, making his Football League debut against Watford that September. He played 3 times during 1934-35 before a move to Clapton Orient in July 1935 where he spent two seasons in the Third Division (South) playing 74 times.

In May 1937 he joined Tom Parker’s Southampton making 65 appearances before the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939 interrupted his career. Before the War, he was described as “notable for the way in which in which he commands the ball in the air as well as for his incisive tackling”. He continued to play for Southampton and The Southampton Police in wartime football and played for Yeovil Town after the War was over, joining them in June 1946.
