Description

Dalton, Yorkshire born full back (he could play both sides) Len Williams began his football career with Silverwood Colliery in 1921 and played for Wath Athletic in 1922 before being signed by Second Division Sheffield Wednesday, for whom he made his Football League debut at Leeds United in January 1924. A fringe player during his three seasons at Hillsborough, he made 9 appearances for The Owls including just one as they won the Second Division Championship in 1925-26.

A move to Stockport County in the summer of 1926 proved beneficial and he spent a season in the first team at Edgeley Park, making 40 appearances at left back for The Hatters before being signed by Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 1927 close season. At Wolves he switched to the right back berth but didn’t get to make his first team debut until February 1928, after which he was a regular until losing his place at the beginning of the 1929-30 season. He only played twice more for Wolves that season before transferring to Swansea Town in February 1930 after 53 appearances for Wolves, and he spent fifteen months at Swansea, making 43 appearances, before joining non league Wellington Town in the summer of 1931, joining Oswestry Town later the same year.
