Birmingham born left back Arthur Waters began his football career on the books of Small Heath in 1900-01 but didn’t make a first team appearance for them before joining Walsall in 1902. He spent two years at Fellows Park before joining Southern League Swindon Town in 1904. He joined Second Division Stockport County in the 1905 close season, making his Football League debut against Chelsea that September, and he was a regular in their first team for four seasons and became cluh captain before losing his first team place in 1909. Described as “a fine defender, his tackling being quick and effective. Kicks with power and shows marked ability in placing the ball”, he stayed two further seasons with The Hatters, but after 8 goals in 166 appearances he joined Southern League Cardiff City in 1911, his last club before his retirement.
