Spennymoor, County Durham born right half Alec Vincent began his football career after the First World War with Seaham Harbour in 1919 before joining North Eastern League club Durham City in July 1920, and when they were elected to the new Third Division (North) the following year, he made his Football League debut against Barrow in September 1921, becoming a regular in their first League season. He scored his only career goal for Durham City in a 1-1 draw against Ashington in April 1923 but only managed 14 matches in 1923-24, making 69 appearances over three seasons for Durham City before retiring from the professional game.
