Bristol born inside forward Reg Trotman began his football career with Kingswood in 1926 and joined Third Division (South) Bristol Rovers in October 1927, making his Football League debut at Coventry City in January 1928, scoring in a 3-2 win, one of three appearances he made for Rovers during a two week period before he lost his place in the team. He joined Rochdale in July 1928 and scored 10 goals in 24 appearances for ‘Dale during 1928-29, but well before the season had finished he was signed by would be League Champions Sheffield Wednesday in February 1929.
He never made an appearance in the Wednesday first team and joined Midland League Worksop Town in the 1929 close season, moving to Mansfield Town in 1930. He joined Dartford in 1931 and Bath City in 1932, playing for Bristol St George in 1933 and finally Trowbridge Town in 1934 before his eventual retirement.
