Barnsley born full back Jack Tindall started playing football for Barnsley junior club St Barnabas in 1910 before joining Second Division hometown club Barnsley in 1913, making his Football League debut at Bristol City that October. He was a fringe player having only made 8 appearances when the advent of World War One caused peacetime football to be suspended, but he played both sides of the War for Barnsley and by 1919 he was their first choice full back. He played 4 seasons after the War and made 147 Barnsley appearances before leaving the club, and in 1924 he joined Accrington Stanley, making 16 appearances before joining non league Shirebrook in 1925.
