Not to be confused with either of the Bolton Wanderers George Taylors, one of whom also played for Notts County, Grimsby born goalkeeper George Arthur Taylor began his football career with Boston United in 1937 before joining Third Division (South) Notts County in the 1938 close season as understudy to Tom Flower. He made his Football League debut against Cardiff City in April 1939 and made five more appearances before the end of the season. However the outbreak of the Second World War that September effectively ended his professional football career.
