Manchester born right winger Harry Stansfield began his senior football career with hometown club Mancheater City spending 1895-96 on their books without making a first team appearance. He returned to local junior football with Fallowfield in 1896 and played for Berry’s Association in 1898 before joining First Division Preston North End in 1899, making his Football League debut against Sunderland that September, scoring his only goal in 4 appearances for The Lilywhites in his final game for the club in a 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers at Deepdale the following April.
He joined Second Division Stockport County in May 1900, and was an ever present in their 1900-01 campaign scoring6 goals in 32 appearances for The Hatters before joining Wigan United for a season in 1901. He soon returned to Stockport, and had two further seasons at Edgeley Park before joining Southern League Tottenham Hotspur in the 1904 close season having scored 14 goals in 91 appearances across his two spells with County. At Tottenham he scored 8 goals in 54 appearances during their last four seasons as a Southern League club, but before they entered the Football League he transferred to Luton Town in 1908, and finished his career with Luton.
