Description

Hamsterley, County Durham born full back Norman Richardson began his football career with Medomsley Juniors in 1930 and joined First Division Bolton Wanderers in May 1933, staying on their books as a reserve team player for nearly three years without making a first team appearance, eventually joining Third Division (North) New Brighton in February 1936, making his Football League debut at Gateshead the same month.

He played both sides of the Second World War and was an ever present in the New Brighton defence in the first season after the War, 1946-47, playing his last game of 232 appearances over 15 years for New Brighton in February 1951 before joining non league Chorley that summer. He subsequently joined Bangor City in 1952 before retiring.
