Buckhaven born full back David Raitt had a modestly successful football career immediately post WW1. Signing from junior Scottish football for Dundee in 1919, his performances soon attracted the scouts and Everton signed him in 1922. He went straight into the first XI making his debut at Tottenham Hotspur in September 1922 and played 36 times that season as Everton finished 5th in Division One. However that was to be his best season of 6 at Everton, where he played a total of 131 times, before a move to Blackburn in 1928, which yielded a mere 4 games at a club where the first team, in fairness, was being particularly successful and would have been hard to break into. In 1929 he returned to Scotland with Forfar Athletic.
