Hyde born full back Frank Norgrove joined Second Division Glossop North End in October 1900 and made his Football League debut against Middlesbrough in September 1901, establishing himself in their first team in 1902. He signed for Manchester City in April 1904 after a single goal in 80 appearances for The Hillmen, and stayed 8 seasons at Hyde Road, although rarely if ever a regular in the Manchester City first eleven.
In his best season, 1906-07, he made 29 appearances during the campaign, and played only 8 times as they won the 1910 Second Division Championship after their relegation the previous season. In total he scored once in 98 appearances for The Citizens, playing his last game in September 1911 before retirement.
