Shepshed, Leicestershire born wing half George Needham began his football career with local junior club Shepshed Albion in 1905 before joining First Division Nottingham Forest, making his Football League debut at Everton in April 1906 shortly before Forest were relegated to the Second Division at the end of the season. He broke into the side on a regular basis at the start of the new season, which saw Nottingham Forest bounce back to the First Division immediately as Second Division Champions. Although they were once again relegated in 1911, Needham stayed with the club through to the suspension of peacetime football due to the advent of the First World War in 1915 by when he had scored 10 goals in 291 appearances for Nottingham Forest. However he didn’t resume his career after the War.
