Description

Cowdenbeath, Fife born right half Billy Nairn joined hometown professional club Cowdenbeath in 1918 before moving to Dundee a year later. He first moved to Wales with Southern League Ebbw Vale in 1920, before joining Third Division (South) Newport County in the summer of 1922, making his Football League debut that August against Southend United. Nairn served Newport County for nine years as a right half or centre half and became club captain, playing representative football for The Welsh League against The Irish Free State League in 1928 before retiring in 1931 after scoring 14 times in 237 appearances for The Ironsides.
