Giffnock, Renfrewshire born winger Hugh Morris joined Clyde in 1915 from Rutherglen Glencairn, where he stayed 7 years before signing for First Division Manchester City in the summer of 1922, making his Football League debut that August at Sheffield United. He made 61 appearances in 2 seasons at Maine Road playing in their losing 1924 FA Cup semi final team beaten by eventual winners Newcastle United at St Andrew’s, before a transfer to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 1924. His single season at The City Ground saw a single goal in 23 appearances before a move across the River Trent to Meadow Lane in March 1925, where he failed to make the Notts County first team. Released, he joined Southend United in the summer of 1925, spending 4 seasons at The Kursaal scoring 15 times in 126 appearances. In 1929 he joined Newport County but spent only a single season in South Wales, scoring 7 times in 24 games before retiring from professional football in 1930.
