Hebburn born full back Wilf Milne joined north east junior club Walker Celtic in 1919, signing for newly elected Football League club Swansea Town in 1920 and making his debut at Northampton Town in September 1920. He played 35 times in Swansea’s inaugural Football League season and 29 times as they won promotion in 1924-25 winning the Third Division (South) Championship. He spent the rest of his career in the Second Division playing his last game of 631 appearances, scoring 7 times, in March 1937 when already 38 years old. His record of appearances for Swansea holds to this day. Later that year he joined non league Milford United and retired from professional football.
