Manchester born full back Tom Millington began his football career with Ancoats Lads Club in 1903, playing for junior clubs Newton Heath Athletic in 1904, Brynn Central in 1905, Colne in 1906 and Pendlebury in 1907. He joined First Division Bury in 1908 making his Football League debut against Notts County that October, but until 1910 he was largely a fringe player. He became a regular member of the Bury first eleven from the start of the 1910-11 season and although they were relegated from the First Division in 1912, he remained at the club for 2 further seasons in the Second Division before joining Southern League Queen’s Park Rangers in the summer of 1914 after 143 appearances for The Shakers. He played a single season at Loftus Road before the First World War forced the suspension of peacetime football in 1915, after which he didn’t return to senior football,
