Description

Rutherglen, Lanarkshire born wing half Frank McMenemy began his football career with Burnbank Athletic in 1928 and joined Scottish League Hamilton Academical in 1929. While at Douglas Park he had loan spells with St Cuthbert Wanderers in 1930 and Nithsdale Wanderers in 1931 before transferring to Airdrieonians later the same year. A move south to England followed in 1932 when he joined Tunbridge Wells Rangers, and his first foray into the Football League came a year later when he joined Northampton Town, making his Football League debut at Bristol Rovers in February 1934. He soon established himself in The Cobblers’ first eleven, but joined Crystal Palace in the 1936 close season after 3 goals in 65 appearances. Although a regular in the Palace first team, he only stayed a season, scoring 3 goals in 29 appearances for The Eagles before joining non league Guildford City in 1937.
