Description
Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire born wing half Ted McDonald played for Newcastle White Star in 1893 before joining Second Division Burslem Port Vale, for whom he made his Football League debut against Darwen in November 1894. He had 2 spells with Port Vale either side of a single season in the First Division with Stoke in 1896-97, for whom he made only 2 appearances. He joined First Division Notts County in November 1899 after having scored 8 goals in 88 appearances across his spells at The Old Recreation Ground, and he proceeded to have 5 seasons at Meadow Lane during which time he scored 3 goals in 152 appearances for The Magpies. In 1905 he moved to Southern League Portsmouth, where he saw out his senior career.
