Bridgeton, Glasgow born full back Bill McCurdy started his football career with Vale of Clyde in 1898 before journeying south to join Second Division Luton Town in the 1899 close season, making his Football League debut at Grimsby Town the same September and making 35 appearances for The Hatters in a season that saw them resign from The Football League at the season end. He joined Nottingham Forest in the 1900 close season but was largely a fringe player at The City Ground, making 11 appearances in his two seasons on The Trent, before joining Southern League New Brompton (now Gillingham) in 1902, where he remained a further two seasons. In 1904 he joined Tottenham Hotspur where he made 12 Southern League appearances in addition to 10 Western League outings, before re-joining Luton Town in 1905 where he saw out his senior career.
