Burnbank, Lanarkshire born goalkeeper Bob Mason began with hometown club Burnbank Athletic in 1905, from where he joined Clyde in 1906, moving to Hamilton Academical in 1908. In December 1909 he moved south to join Second Division Bradford Park Avenue, making his Football League debut in a defeat at Gainsborough Trinity a few days later. He soon established himself as the number one glovesman at the club, and played 5 seasons at The Avenue, in his final season making 15 appearances as Avenue gained promotion as Second Division runners up, when he shared goalkeeping duties with Frank Drabble. Mason joined Stalybridge Celtic in 1914 after 127 appearances for Bradford, but with the outbreak of the First World War returned to Scotland and re-joined Burnbank Athletic in 1916 and Hamilton Academical in 1917 before retirement.
