Dalmellington, Ayrshire born inside forward Jacky Kay played for Motherwell Juniors in 1926 before joining Dundee United in 1927, where he was United’s top scorer in their promotion winning season of 1930-31 and where he stayed 6 years. He moved south in 1933 and after trials with Blackpool and Crystal Palace, he joined Chester in early 1934, making his Football League debut against Carlisle United that February, and making 3 appearances during the month. He soon headed back to re-join Dundee United, however, staying another 2 seasons before joining Brechin City in 1936 after 91 goals in 249 appearances, later joining Alloa Athletic in 1937.
