Sheffield born full back (he played both sides) Albert Johnson began his football career with Attercliffe in 1904, from where he joined Second Division Barnsley. He made his Tykes debut in a third round FA Cup tie against First Division Bury in February 1907 which Barnsley won 1-0, and subsequently made 3 League appearances, his Football League debut coming in a 2-2 draw at Burslem Port Vale a week later on 2nd March. Johnson played 8 League games the following season between September and January, but left the club later that year and finished his football career after a dozen first team appearances.
