Description

Glasgow born centre forward Wattie Jackson joined Scottish League club Kilmarnock from Yoker Athletic in September 1920, playing three seasons at Rugby Park before his first adventure to the nascent North American Soccer Leagues where he played for Bethlehem Steel in August 1923 with his younger brother Alex. They returned from The States in August 1924 and both joined Aberdeen, where he scored 18 goals in 54 appearances for The Dons before joining Second Division Preston North End in October 1925.

Jackson made his Football League debut 5 days later against Hull City. His 12 goals that season alongside fellow Scot Alex James included a hat-trick against Clapton Orient in December. He played two seasons at Deepdale scoring 15 goals in 47 appearances before returning to America and re-joining Bethlehem Steel in 1927, later playing for Philadelphia Centennials where he finished his career.

He was the elder brother of famous Scottish international Alex Jackson who also played with him at Aberdeen, as well as playing for Huddersfield Town, where he won the League Championship, and Chelsea.
