Aston, Birmingham born centre forward Charles Izon began his football career with Old Hill Wanderers in 1891 and played for Halesowen in 1892 before joining Second Division Small Heath (now Birmingham City, in the 1893 close season, making his Football League debut against Walsall Town Swifts that September, scoring a debut hat-trick in a 4-0 victory. Despite his incredible start the goals soon dried up and he lost his place towards the end of October.

Over four seasons with Small Heath, he was never a first team regular, and after 8 goals in 25 appearances he joined Walsall in the summer of 1897. However he remained on the fringes of first team action, playing 7 matches for The Saddlers during 1897-98, all before New Year, before finishing his football career.
