Description

Shotts, Lanarkshire born inside forward Davie Hutchison started his football career in the Scottish League with Dykehead in 1924, joining Albion Rovers in 1925 and Motherwell in 1926. From Fir Park he went south to join Carlisle United in the 1928 close season, for whom he made his Football League debut in their inaugural League match in a 3-2 win at Accrington Stanley in August 1928.

Although his first season produced few goals, he scored 27 in his second season including a hat-trick against Wigan Borough and 22 in his third term at Brunton Park, and on joining Luton Town in the summer of 1932 he had scored 67 goals in 159 appearances for The Cumbrians.

He lost his place in The Hatters’ line-up in September 1934 and joined Airdrieonians in 1935 after 21 goals in 58 appearances. He returned south to join Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic in the summer of 1936, but played only twice, scoring once, at the start of the season before returning to Scotland to join Stenhousemuir in 1937.
