Description

Larbert, Stirlingshire born outside right Charles Howie began his football career with Old Plean Amateurs in 1926, and joined local professional Scottish League club Stenhousemuir in 1927, from where he was signed by Second Division Nottingham Forest in October 1928, making his Football League debut against Millwall the same month. Howie scored once in 17 appearances during his debut season, with a goal in a win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Christmas Day. But he failed to establish himself at The City Ground and his appearances became increasingly occasional. He signed off with a goal in his final match for Nottingham Forest in a 5-2 defeat by Reading on Boxing Day 1930, having scored twice in 24 appearances for Forest. His later career is uncertain.
