Leeds born full back Fred “Ginger” Horsman joined Mansfield Town in 1911 and played for Sutton Junction and Grantham before re-joining Mansfield in 1914. After World War One he joined Watford in May 1919, making his Southern League debut against Cardiff City in October 1919, and missing only 4 games the following season in Watford’s inaugural Football League season, including playing in their first League fixture in August 1920 against Queen’s Park Rangers at Loftus Road. He played his final match for Watford in January 1924 before moving back to Yorkshire with Doncaster Rovers that June after 137 appearances. He played 42 games for Rovers in 1924-25, before joining Peterborough in August 1925, and then Luton Town, where he failed to get into The Hatters’ first eleven. He then joined non league Ashford in 1926 and also played for Chatham.
