Weston, Cheshire born outside right Jimmy Hope had a brief senior football career but a lengthier non league career that started with ex League club Northwich Victoria. He joined local rivals Witton Albion in 1929 and played for Winsford United in 1930, from where he was signed by Second Division club Oldham Athletic in the 1931 close season, making his Football League debut against Notts County that September. He played 4 matches for The Latics that month before losing his place, and returned to non league football with Runcorn in the summer of 1932. He re-joined Winsford United in 1933 and played for ex League club Stalybridge Celtic in 1934, his final known club was Clayton Aniline, joining them a year later.
