Description
Sunderland born winger James Hogg joined local North Eastern League club South Shields in 1912 before joining Southern League Portsmouth in the summer of 1913, and he was there when World War One broke out. After the War, he resumed at Portsmouth and won The Southern League with them in 1919-20, scoring 5 goals in 32 appearances during the campaign. He scored twice in 17 appearances during their inaugural Football League season in 1920-21, before joining non league Guildford United in 1921 after 12 goals in 84 Southern League, Football League and FA Cup appearances for Pompey.
