Morpeth, Northumberland born left half Jimmy Henderson played for Morpeth Harriers from 1897 and joined Southern League club Reading in 1903. In May 1904 he signed for Second Division Bradford City, making his Football League debut at Bristol City that October and making 14 appearances that season for The Bantams.
Henderson joined Leeds City in July 1905 making 80 appearances over the next three seasons before joining First Division Preston North End in May 1908, but after only 6 appearances in the top flight he returned to the Second Division exactly a year later with Clapton Orient. He scored 4 goals in 27 appearances for Orient, before joining Lancashire Combination club Rochdale in 1910, spending four years at Spotland before joining South Liverpool in 1914.
He rejoined Rochdale after the First World War in 1918 before finishing his playing career with Rochdale Pioneers in 1921.
