Left back Alex Henderson began his football career with East Stirlingshire in 1910 and had three seasons at Merchiston Park, scoring 3 goals in 68 appearances for The Shire before joining Falkirk in 1913, spending a period on loan with Penicuik Juniors in 1914. Henderson served as a lance corporal in McCrae’s Battalion of the Royal Scots during the First World War. He was wounded in action, but returned to Falkirk and played 68 matches for them before leaving for Alloa Athletic in 1919. He had two seasons at Recreation Park before joining Scottish League First Division club Dumbarton in the summer of 1921, making his debut in a defeat at Kilmarnock that August. He made 59 appearances for The Sons over the next two seasons, before finishing his career in 1923.
