Description

Scarborough born wing half Les Heelbeck played for hometown club Scarborough in 1928, Newark Town in 1929 and Grantham in 1930 before joining Carlisle United in 1931, for whom he made his Football League debut against Chester in December that year. He scored once in 12 appearances before being signed by Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 1932 close season. He was a fringe player at Wolves, making 8 appearances over 2 seasons, before joining Rotherham United in the summer of 1934. He was an ever present in his debut season for The Millers, scoring 6 goals in 112 appearances before re-joining Scarborough in the 1937 close season.
