Glasgow born left half Hunter Hart played junior football for Parkhead White Rose in 1915 and Parkhead Juniors in 1916, and started his professional career at Airdrieonians in 1917, playing for The Diamonds for five years at Broomfield Park before transferring to First Division Everton for £4,000 in January 1922, making his Football League debut the same month at Bolton Wanderers in a season where The Toffees narrowly avoided relegation. He was Club Captain from 1922 to 1927 and an ever present in 1923-24, missing only one game in 1927-28 as Everton won the League Championship. He continued playing until 1930, retiring during Everton’s relegation season, having made 301 appearances and scored 5 goals for The Toffees.

NB in the photograph Hart is outjumped by Sunderland’s Charlie Buchan in a match between Everton and Sunderland in December 1922.
