Rushall, Staffordshire born left back Bill Hanson played junior football for Rushall Red Cross in 1906 before spending some of 1908-09 on the books at Aston Villa, for whom he didn’t make a first team appearance. He joined Southern League club Coventry City later in 1908, and after a season at Highfield Road he moved to Second Division club Bradford Park Avenue in July 1910. He made his Football League debut for The Avenue in January 1911 making his solitary first team appearance in a match against Hull City. which Bradford won 2-0. However he was not retained and didn’t continue his professional football career.
