A Wales schoolboy international, Cadoxton, Barry, Glamorgan born inside forward Albert Hall (he could play all three inside positions as well as outside right) began his football career with Tottenham Hotspur Juniors in 1932 and graduated to a professional contract with Second Division club Tottenham Hotspur in October 1935, still aged 17, making his Football League debut, and only appearance of the season at Norwich City in April 1936, becoming one of four players with the surname to wear the shirt during his time at White Hart Lane, along with England international Willie, inside right Almer and goalkeeper Jack.
After one further appearance the next season, he enjoyed a clutch of appearances at inside right towards the end of the 1937-38 campaign, and established himself as a first team regular from the start of the 1938-39 campaign, when, playing mainly at inside left, he was their leading goalscorer in the League with 10 goals, although he lost his place through injury after 26 matches in March 1939. The Second World War’s outbreak in September 1939 then substantially disrupted his career, and during the War he guested for many clubs across the country including Port Vale, Short Brothers in Belfast, Norwich City, Luton Town, Charlton Athletic, Chelsea, Reading, Millwall and Watford.
After the War he returned to White Hart Lane and scored in Tottenham’s FA Cup two-legged defeat to Brentford in January 1946, then making 8 more appearances, mainly on the right wing, during their first post war peacetime campaign in 1946-47, by when he had scored 11 goals in 44 appearances for Spurs either side of the War. He then transferred to Plymouth Argyle in July 1947, managed by Jack Tresadern, his former manager at Tottenham, and played 9 matches for The Pilgrims in the autumn of 1947, losing his place that October, and after a single season at Home Park he joined non league Chelmsford City, his last recorded club before his eventual retirement.
