Reading born winger Arthur Hadley started his football career with Reading Abbey in 1894 before joining Southern League hometown club Reading in 1895. In May 1898 he joined First Division Notts County, playing four seasons at Meadow Lane scoring 22 goals in 82 appearances. He joined Leicester Fosse in June 1902 and although he left the club in 1904 to join non league Arnold, he returned in March 1905 to add 5 appearances to the 7 goals in 66 appearances he’d clocked up in his first two seasons at Filbert Street. He re-joined Notts County in November 1906 but didn’t make their first eleven.
