Bolton born right back Harry Greenhalgh played junior football for Chorley Old Road Congregationals in 1922 and Atherton in 1923 before joining First Division Bolton Wanderers in 1924, making his Football League debut at Notts County in January 1925. He was in the Bolton team that won the 1926 FA Cup Final beating Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley with a David Jack goal. In 1926-27 he was first choice at full back with Alex Finney, making 34 League appearances, but he lost his place to Bob Haworth in the following season and made only 7 more appearances before leaving Bolton in 1929 after 80 appearances for The Trotters.
