Description

Right half Eric Gilderson was a London area based amateur footballer who played for Isthmian League clubs Ilford and Leyton and who won two England Amateur international caps. He won his first cap in a 2-1 victory over Wales at The Smithfield Athletic Ground, Aberystwyth in February 1930 and was selected for England’s next match in a 1-0 defeat to Scotland in front of 15,000 spectators at Hampden Park Glasgow, as Scotland, having beaten Ireland and Wales, claimed the ‘Triple Crown’ for the first time.
